A preliminary look at the UAP-related provisions of the final proposed FY 2023 National Defense Authorization Act (H.R. 7776)

The U.S. House of Representatives passed the NDAA-IAA on December 8, 2022, by a vote of 350-80. It contains two main UAP related provisions in three numbered sections, which are similar to those in earlier versions and have been refined by congressional negotiators. This bill will provide a secure method for authorized reporting and robust anti-reprisal protections for those bringing UAP-related information to the Pentagon UAP office and Congress. There are also revisions to existing "whistleblower" laws covering the Intelligence Community, and a historical study of involvement of the Intelligence Community in UAP matters, which will be conducted by the Pentagon UAP office. Final congressional approval and enactment are likely before the end of the year.
